The STEM Institute proudly provides middle and high school students with abundant academic resources and support in order to adequately prepare them for meeting the demands of University-level life and study.

Our STEM program is designed to ignite the curiosity and passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in middle and high school students. We believe in providing a dynamic learning environment that cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

We’re delighted to share that our STEM Institute courses offer High-School Honors elective credits for eligible students in grades 8 to 12.

But wait, there’s more! Thanks to our partnership with the CCNY College Now program, certain courses are now eligible for College Credits. 

That’s right, you can earn dual credits—both high school and college credits—by taking these special courses. It’s like getting two for the price of one!

Our Requirements

The STEM Institute aims to provide educational opportunities for all students, especially those who come from underrepresented backgrounds. If you’d like to know more about program-specific requirements, please visit the Programs page or submit an inquiry through our Contact page.

Grade Levels: Open to all middle and high school students (6-12).
R
Residency Requirement: Participants must reside or attend school within the five boroughs of New York City.
R
Academic Background: No prior coursework in STEM is required. We welcome students from diverse academic backgrounds with a variety of interests.

GPA Requirement: There is no GPA requirement for admission. We believe in providing equal opportunities for students of all academic levels.
R
IEP or 504 Accommodations: Students in need of specialized learning support will be granted extended testing time, up to one and a half times the standard duration, upon submission of relevant documentation from their school.

Diagnostic Exam: Applicants may be required to take a diagnostic exam. This exam is designed to assess fundamental skills and ensure that participants are placed in an appropriate learning environment.
